The Mellor March was founded in 1994 by Pad Whitham, Richard Jones and Tim Lowe. The first March started and finished at Mellor Church and raised just over £1000. Then they moved to the Royal Oak as a base for registration and refreshment at the end of the walk. To date, over £150,000 has been donated 'to cancer causes in our community'.

David Myers: A Long Walk
Huge congratulations to Dave Myers for his fantastic achievement of completing 'The Way of St James' on 20th April 2013, and raising over £3000 for the Mellor March. Dave has a target of £5000 so let's all dig deep and try and get him over the line by May 5th when The Mellor March takes place. Thanks once again, Dave and also a big thank you to Debbie, Dave's wife for loaning Dave out for three weeks, looking after the family AND the business, Myers Tree Care, while he was away! Very well done Dave!"
David walked 'The Way of St. James' - an ancient pilgrimage route which runs across northern Spain - in aid of the Mellor March local cancer charity causes.
The walk started on 26th March at St. Jean de Pied de Port in France and ended 500 miles and twenty-five days later at Santiago de Compostela in Spain. David undertook the the walk unaided and on his own.
